A rare API Spring Creek fly reel designed and patented by Oscar Kovalovsky offered in a spitfire finish. 3 5/8″ diameter with a neutral bias that can be used for LHW or RHW. Mint condition. These reels were made in the late 1980s by Angling Products Inc. in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. The reel would be perfect for a 5-6 weight line and backing. Reel can be used either right or left hand wind. Weighs approx. 5 5/8 oz. This one is serial number 150. An ingenuous little releasing tab is used to wind off the spool. This is one of the first large arbor reels with a click drag and the handle is inset from the edge to allow space to use a finger as additional drag. Since the handle is inset from the outer edge, it automatically gives it a multiplying effect of 1.4 to 1 when retrieving line. Comes in a leather zipper fleece-lined pouch. Neat reel.
