Astelia Silver Shadow 3 Ltr pot

Astelia Silver Shadow 3 Ltr pot

Astelia chathamica Silver Shadow is an evergreen, clump-forming perennial prized for its striking, long, arching, silver sword-like leaves that droop gracefully at the tips. Grown primarily for foliage impact, it forms an architectural mound to around 1.2m tall and wide over time. In mild conditions female plants may bear small yellow flowers in spring followed by orange berries in summer, though outdoor flowering in Ireland is uncommon. Best in full sun or light shade, in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Excellent for bold, architectural planting, coastal schemes and smart courtyard containers.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
